The Ritz-Carlton, Fukuoka

Fukuoka’s Daimyo Garden City commercial complex. This luxurious 25-storey hotel boasts 147 spacious rooms and 20 elegant suites, designed by Melbourne’s Layan Architects + Designers. Each room provides stunning views of the Genkai Sea, Hakata Bay, and the city skyline. The design pays tribute to Fukuoka’s rich cultural heritage, incorporating elements of hakata-ori—traditional silk weaving—alongside artisan sculptures and woven textiles for a distinctive visual appeal.

The team at Claybrook worked closely with Layan to help them realize their vision for the bath. Custom-made metalwork frames encase the bath, giving them a sense of being suspended in space. The frames also incorporate shelves for amenities.
